Enterprise Analytics: Moving Beyond Business Intelligence

Business intelligence has traditionally supported highly trained business analysts, power users dedicated to developing and distributing reports and analysis to a select few in the organization. The query and reporting tools they used took months to learn and longer to implement. The result of their efforts were reports and analysis based on isolated, transactional data, that lacked the context of cross-value chain integration. In addition, the use of industry-standard metrics and KPIs are not the rule, rather they are the exception. Once the analysis is done, it is only available on an ad-hoc basis, limited to a select view versus a broad audience within the enterprise.

In this presentation, the speaker will discuss the emergence of Enterprise Analytics as the solution set beyond business intelligence tools. Citing the shortcomings of the current technology, we will focus on how companies must integrate data from virtually any source, analyze it using best-practices and industry-standard metrics, and broadly deliver personalized information in real time via the Web, wireless or voice recognition. Using Enterprise Analytics companies have the ability to deliver metrics and communications to more workers than ever before, regardless of where they are. In addition, they have the technology infrastructure to meet the current and future scalability needs to make this happen.

The speaker will outline how broad deployment of consistent metrics to workers throughout the enterprise will drive significant improvements beyond current practices. This is made possible through a combination of technologies: data integration from diverse business functions, analysis using best-practices and industry-standard metrics and delivery of analytic dashboards via Web, wireless, and voice. The resulting benefits move companies from improving business efficiency to improving business effectiveness.

In this session you will learn:

  • How enterprise analytics overcomes the shortcomings inherent in traditional business intelligence solutions
  • How the requisite elements of enterprise analytics: integration, analysis, and delivery of personalized information, create the infrastructure for next generation business intelligence
  • How an Internet architecture based on J2EE is a critical success factor
  • How enterprise analytics moves a company from business efficiency to business effectiveness
